We are the Champions

I took a personality assessment two and a half years ago because Penelope Trunk told me to. The results were interesting but I'm skeptical about this kind of thing. Well, I just took it again and my personality type is exactly the same: ENFP (Keirsey Temperament: Idealist, symbolic name: Champion).

I'm a dead ringer for the descriptions of this personality type. Just ask my wife if this sound like me:
Because ENFPs live in the world of exciting possibilities, the details of everyday life are seen as trivial drudgery. They place no importance on detailed, maintenance-type tasks, and will frequently remain oblivious to these types of concerns. This is a challenging area of life for most ENFPs, and can be frustrating for ENFP's family members.
You can take the assessment free if you want to compare results.

B-Day Arcade

I met my brother at Zap Arcade for our joint birthday celebration. They have changed some things since my last visit with Natalie. To her disappointment, they no longer had the game where you shoot deers, but they replaced it with one where you shoot bears.

Most importantly, they now have a working TMNT machine! Which means that I finally fulfilled my lifelong goal of beating Shredder at the Technodrome... an accomplishment made even sweeter by the awareness of how many quarters it would have cost to complete back when this was pay-per-play.

You've lost... you just don't know it

Paisley had a doctor appointment this week to check up on her after the tympanostomy that I totally didn't blog about (the surgery was in the same place where Natalie got her fillings, and the experience was pretty similar, except that familiarity made it slightly less traumatic)(for us).

Jenna and the kids came to visit me at the office afterward. I sat Natalie down by my dad's wooden chess set to play with the pieces. When I looked down, she had completely set up the board for the side of the board that she could reach (only the knights and bishops were on each others' squares).

I didn't know she could do this. I only told her about the pieces' starting positions once and we have never practiced setting up the board. But we have played several games at home, often at her insistence, and clearly she was paying attention. I have never been more proud of her than I was at that moment.

Feelin' dumb

I just missed another chiropractor appointment!! :(

Protect Ya Neck

I hurt my back somehow. The pain started around my right shoulder blade and spread to my neck. This has happened before but with some ice and rest it usually goes away in a day or two. This time it didn't go away and, in fact, seemed to be getting worse after three days.

So I went to a chiropractor on Wednesday for the first time and he popped everything back into place. There was tremendous improvement after the first visit and I was able to go back to work and do everything pretty much normally. My neck is stiff and a little sore but most of the pain is gone.

Besides applying ice and a liberal amount of Tiger Balm, I started doing some Yoga stretches to loosen up. I was practicing more or less on the regular in 2009 and a little bit in 2011 while I was running. Seems like a good time to start back up again, and Jenna said she was interested in learning with me, which is very fun!

I be liking chess

Cuz chess is crazy, right there, that's the ultimate
It's like a great hobby right there, playing chess
The board, the pieces, the squares, the movement
You know, war, capturing, thinking, strategy
Planning, music, it's hip-hop, and sports
It's life, it's reality
